Ubisoft plans to release a steady stream of Assassin’s Creed games over the next five years, according to Insider Gaming CEO, Tom Henderson. Speaking at the Xbox Two + One podcast alongside Jez Corden and Rand al Thor, Henderson revealed that Ubisoft aims to launch a new Assassin’s Creed title every six months.
The company’s strategy involves diversifying the franchise, with upcoming releases spanning various genres. This means not all games will follow the traditional RPG format. Ubisoft has hinted at this approach in its previously announced roadmap, which mentions both smaller-scale projects and major AAA action RPGs.
One of the most intriguing projects is Codename Invictus, a multiplayer game inspired by Fall Guys. This represents a fresh direction for the franchise, focusing on an entirely different gaming experience. Alongside this, rumors suggest a remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is in the works, bringing the beloved pirate-themed adventure to a new generation of players.
Confirmed titles include Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Shadows, set to release in Feb 2025, explores Feudal Japan with what is expected to be a massive map. Meanwhile, Hexe promises a darker, more focused narrative compared to the expansive RPGs the series is known for. Additionally, Codename Jade, a mobile game for iOS and Android, is also expected to debut soon.
This ambitious release schedule mirrors Ubisoft’s strategy to capitalize on the franchise’s immense popularity, especially after the success of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and the recently released Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Similar to Activision’s annual Call of Duty model, Ubisoft aims to keep fans engaged with consistent new content.
