Tokyo Indie Game Summit

Tokyo’s Indie Game Summit has seen remarkable growth in its third year, with attendance more than tripling to over 23,000 visitors compared to last year’s 9,000.

The two-day festival, held on March 8-9 in Kichijoji, Tokyo, has quickly become a major celebration of independent game development.

The event featured more than 200 carefully selected indie games, giving developers a chance to showcase their creativity to thousands of enthusiastic gamers. Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities beyond just playing games, including panel discussions with industry leaders Shuhei Yoshida and Shunji Mizutani, competitive gaming sessions, trailer premieres, and gameplay previews.

Adding to the excitement this year, the summit hosted its first-ever Tokyo Indie Games Summit Award ceremony, recognizing outstanding achievements in indie game development.

Seeing the amazing energy of creators and fans from all over come together in Kichijoji was truly inspiring,” said Kazuniori Sakamoto, founder of Phoenixx, the company organizing the event.

The positive response has already sparked plans for next year, with Sakamoto adding, “We are immensely grateful for the growth of TIGS, and are putting plans in place to ensure 2026 is our biggest year to date.
