Tetris and Fortnite Join Forces for a Limited-Time Collaboration and $10K Tournament

Fans of Tetris and Fortnite have something exciting to look forward to! In celebration of Tetris’s upcoming 40th anniversary, PlayStudios, the company behind the official Tetris app, is teaming up with Fortnite for a unique collaboration.

This limited-time event brings the iconic Tetriminos into Fortnite’s Creative mode with the reimagined map, Color Climb!

Players will not only experience the classic Tetris elements in a new setting but will also have the chance to compete in a thrilling $10,000 tournament.

Tetris Comes to Fortnite Creative

Fortnite has opened doors for endless creativity with the launch of Unreal Editor for Fortnite, allowing players across platforms to create personalized experiences. However, it’s not just gamers taking advantage of this platform—companies are also seeing its potential.

PlayStudios is the latest to jump in, integrating Tetris’s iconic blocks into Fortnite’s popular Color Climb! map. Originally developed by Dylan “Dilly” Johnson, the map offers a parkour-style gameplay where players race to climb colored blocks without falling.

Johnson, now CEO of Good Gamers, a leading team in Fortnite Creative development, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “Tetris and Fortnite may attract different audiences, but both games thrive on intuitive and skill-based gameplay. We hope fans of both worlds will enjoy this unique collaboration,” he said.

$10K Tournament: Compete Against Influencers

The collaboration isn’t just about visuals. Players of the official Tetris app can qualify for a $10,000 tournament hosted on the Color Climb! map. This parkour game will challenge players to jump across the familiar Tetris-shaped blocks in a race against time.

While no major streamers have been confirmed yet, PlayStudios teased that qualifiers may get the chance to compete against big-name influencers and streamers during the tournament.

Four tournaments are scheduled for September 17, 25, 28, and October 2, 2024, and they will be streamed live on Twitch by ThePeachCobbler. Each event will feature eight players, and the fastest climbers will walk away with a portion of the $10,000 prize pool.
