Team Vitality Wins Blast Open Spring 2025

French powerhouse Team Vitality has won the Blast Open Spring 2025 Counter-Strike 2 tournament in Lisbon, Portugal. The team, led by Mathieu “zywOo” Herbaut, beat German team Mouz 3-2 in an exciting Grand Final at the MEO Arena.

This victory adds to Team Vitality’s perfect record in 2025. They’ve already won the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice in February and ESL Pro League Season 21 earlier this month.

The team has now won 16 matches in a row, putting them in elite company alongside legendary teams like Astralis (17 wins in 2018-2019), Faze (18 wins in late 2023), and Team Liquid (23 wins in 2019).

Team Vitality’s lineup includes players from across Europe: Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire and Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut from the home country France, Robin ‘ropz’ Kool from Estonia, Shahar ‘flameZ’ Shushan from Israel, and William ‘mezii’ Merriman from the UK. The team also has a British team manager named Aphiren.

ZywOo‘s performance earned him his 23rd MVP title, surpassing Ukrainian star player s1mple. He was also named the MVP at ESL Pro League Season 21.

Team Vitality dominated the tournament from the beginning. They sailed through the Group Stages without losing a single map. In the semi-finals, they defeated Team Spirit in a close 2-1 series.

The Grand Final against Mouz was a rollercoaster match. Team Vitality started with an incredible 13-0 win on the first map, Inferno. However, Mouz fought back, winning the next two maps (Mirage and Dust II) with identical 13-11 scores. With their backs against the wall, Team Vitality won map four (Nuke) 13-7 to tie the series. The deciding map, Train, saw Team Vitality clinch the championship with another 13-7 victory.

The total prize pool of $400,000 is distributed as follows among 16 teams:

The tournament as a whole had approximately 300,000 average viewers across more than 90 hours of airtime and generated close to 30 million hours watched.

Looking ahead, Team Vitality will next compete at IEM Melbourne in April, where they’ll aim to win the coveted ESL Grand Slam Season 5 (the first team that wins four S-Tier). Natus Vincere is close behind them, with a total of 2 wins.
