Team Falcons has secured another triumph in the world of Dota 2, winning DreamLeague Season 24 by defeating BetBoom Team 3-1 in the grand finals on Monday, November 11.
This victory, following a challenging two weeks of competition, marks their third consecutive DreamLeague title since March’s Season 22.
With this win, Falcons claimed the $300,000 grand prize out of the $1 million total prize pool. BetBoom finished as the runner-up, taking home $175,000.
The Journey to Victory
Falcons’ path to victory wasn’t without obstacles. The team showcased resilience throughout Group Stage 1, leading Group B with a 12-2 record. They only dropped games in ties with Tundra Esports and Team Waska, securing a spot in Group Stage 2 alongside teams like Tundra, Team Spirit, PARIVISION, Team Liquid, Xtreme Gaming, and BetBoom.
Group Stage 2 proved to be more challenging for Falcons. They barely qualified for the four-team Playoffs as the fourth seed with a 10-8 record. Despite victories over Liquid (2-0), Tundra (2-1), Xtreme (2-1), and Waska (2-0), they struggled against the top three seeds, losing to BetBoom (0-2), Spirit (1-2), and PARIVISION (1-2).
Playoffs and Grand Finals
Starting in the lower bracket semifinals, Falcons faced PARIVISION and secured a 2-0 victory to progress to the lower bracket finals against Team Spirit. After Spirit was sent to the lower bracket by BetBoom, Falcons swept them 2-0 to earn their place in the grand finals.
The grand finals began with Falcons dominating game one in a 37-minute match led by key performances from Oliver “skiter” Lepko on Alchemist, Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak on Dragon Knight, and Ammar “ATF” Al-Assaf on Bristleback. ATF recorded 10 kills and seven assists, while skiter and Malr1ne combined for 16 kills and 30 assists, each only dying once.
BetBoom rallied in game two, overcoming Falcons in a fierce 42-minute battle that featured 99 combined kills. Gleb “kiyotaka” Zyryanov’s 13 kills on Shadow Fiend and Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko’s 11 kills on Nature’s Prophet led BetBoom’s comeback.
Falcons responded with a convincing 32-minute win in game three, dominating with a 30-9 kill score. Malr1ne delivered an impeccable performance with 11 kills and 17 assists on Dragon Knight. Falcons carried this momentum into game four, clinching the series and the championship in another 32-minute display. ATF shined on Bristleback with 11 kills and 18 assists, supported by skiter and Malr1ne’s strong showings.
A Successful Season
This victory adds to Team Falcons’ already successful debut season in Dota 2, marking their seventh tournament win in 2024. With a direct invite to ESL One Bangkok 2024 in December, Falcons have the chance to end the year with a dominant run of eight championships.
