Take-Two Confirms Support for Nintendo Switch 2

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed its plans to support the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 once the console launches.

During the company’s latest earnings call on February 6, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that Take-Two has had a long-standing relationship with Nintendo and has supported its platforms when it “made sense” for individual game releases. He acknowledged that in the past, Nintendo consoles were often geared toward “younger audiences,” which influenced their release strategy. However, with the success of the Nintendo Switch, the company sees potential for a “broader audience.” “Switch and potentially with Switch 2, the Switch device can support any audience,” Zelnick stated.

While Zelnick hinted that Take-Two would likely support the upcoming Switch 2, he did not confirm specific titles. He pointed out that Civilization VII is already available on the current Switch, suggesting that future Take-Two titles could follow a similar approach.

One of the major questions surrounding Switch 2 support is whether high-profile games like Grand Theft Auto 6 and Borderlands 4 will be available on the system. As per industry reports, both games have been announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there is speculation that they could eventually be adapted for the new Nintendo console.

Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its planned release in fall 2025. Zelnick reiterated that the highly anticipated game is progressing as scheduled. However, he also indicated that potential delays could occur in order to ensure that the game meets the high standards established by Rockstar Games

Nonetheless, Take-Two has released the third quarter financial results, mostly driven by the strong performance of its flagship titles GTA5, Red Dead Redemption, and the NBA 2K franchise.

Regarding new titles on Switch 2, although there have been no official announcements, the company’s stance indicates that major franchises could potentially be released on the next-generation console.
