Supercell, the company behind popular mobile game Clash of Clans, released its newest game called mo.co globally on March 18. This adventure game lets players become monster hunters who jump between different worlds.

After testing mo.co successfully in the United States back in October 2023, Supercell decided to launch it worldwide. However, unlike most game releases, mo.co isn’t available to everyone right away. Players need special invitation codes to access the game.

During the first 48 hours after launch, content creators shared limited-time QR codes during their livestreams. Viewers who spotted these codes could scan them to download mo.co on their iOS or Android devices. After this initial period, people interested in playing need to apply through the official mo.co website by answering a few questions and providing their email address.

The game employs a clever growth strategy. Once players reach Level 5, they earn the ability to invite friends, creating an expanding network of players. João Freitas, mo.co’s community hunting specialist, encouraged fans on Reddit to search for “#joinmoco on social media and streaming platforms” to find invitation opportunities. The game also maintains its own presence across major platforms including YouTube, Twitter (X), Instagram, Discord, and TikTok.

In mo.co, players take on the role of world-jumping monster hunters who research something called “Chaos Energy.” They explore dungeons across parallel worlds and collect new gear and items along the way. The main characters include Luna, Jax, and Manny, who are the founders of the monster-hunting organization that gives the game its name.

What distinguishes mo.co from many mobile games is its monetization approach. According to Pocketgamer.biz, Supercell has decided to remove pay-to-win features entirely. Instead, the game only sells cosmetic items that alter player appearance without providing gameplay advantages – a model similar to Riot Games’ successful approach with League of Legends and Valorant.

The gameplay is designed to be accessible to various players. Dungeons called “Rifts” require just minutes to complete, making the experience suitable for both experienced MMO or action RPG players and newcomers to these genres.

This release marks Supercell’s seventh fully launched game in almost 15 years, showing the company’s selective approach to publishing titles. It follows less than a year after their previous release, Squad Busters, which came out in 2024.

Supercell appears to be picking up the pace of its game releases. The company has already teased another upcoming title called “Boat Game,” which will feature naval battles, exploration, and multiplayer shooting elements.

For now, mo.co remains invite-only, creating an air of exclusivity that could build excitement and word-of-mouth promotion as more players gain access and share their experiences with the game.
