Nintendo‘s latest party game sensation, Super Mario Party Jamboree, has achieved remarkable success in Japan, becoming the country’s best-selling Nintendo game in early 2025. Released in October 2024, this family-friendly multiplayer game has now reached an impressive milestone of over one million copies sold in Japan alone.
According to recent data from Famitsu, Super Mario Party Jamboree sold an additional 117,307 copies during the first week of 2025 (December 30, 2024 – January 5, 2025), pushing its total sales to 1,071,568 units. This outstanding performance has helped it overtake several major Nintendo titles, including popular games like Mario & Luigi: Brothership and The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
The game’s weekly sales were more than three times higher than the second-place title, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, which sold 32,402 units in the same period. Even more impressively, it managed to outsell Minecraft by a ratio of seven to one.

The game’s success isn’t surprising when you consider its appealing features. Super Mario Party Jamboree brings fresh excitement to the beloved series with new game boards and innovative gameplay mechanics. One of its biggest draws is the expanded multiplayer option, which now allows up to 20 players to join in the fun. Players have particularly praised the game’s extensive character roster, which includes both fan favorites and new additions to the Mario Party family.
This isn’t the first time Super Mario Party Jamboree has topped sales charts. When it was first released in October 2024, it immediately claimed the number one spot in US sales. Now, its continued success in Japan demonstrates the game’s universal appeal across different markets.
Looking at the bigger picture, while Super Mario Party Jamboree still trails behind some of Nintendo’s all-time bestsellers in Japan – such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons (8 million+) and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (6 million+) – its rapid rise to the top of weekly sales charts is a significant achievement for a relatively new release.
The Mario Party series continues to prove its enduring popularity, with both new releases and classic titles finding success. Earlier Mario Party games, including the original Mario Party and Mario Party 2, have gained new life through Nintendo Switch Online ports.
