Sultan’s Game, the new card-based RPG from Double Cross Studio and publisher 2P Games, is off to a blazing start. Just 48 hours after its launch, the game has already sold over 100,000 copies, marking a strong debut for the indie team.
A narrative-rich strategy title, Sultan’s Game puts players in the uneasy shoes of a minister navigating life under a ruthless Sultan. Every in-game day is a gamble: draw cards, complete morally complex tasks, and try to survive for seven days—or face execution. The game weaves together resource management, political intrigue, and branching storylines, offering multiple endings based on the choices players make along the way.
According to a press release, the game’s explosive start puts it shoulder to shoulder with other breakout indie hits like Soulmask and Core Keeper, both of which found quick early success on Steam.
What’s Next for Sultan’s Game?
To celebrate the milestone, Double Cross Studio revealed a packed roadmap of upcoming features and improvements:
-
New Epilogue & Story Content – Expect fresh twists to the tale with additional narrative branches.
-
Steam Workshop Support – Modding is on the way, giving players the tools to create and share their own content.
-
Quick Execution System – A new option that lets you streamline estate management and court sessions for faster play. (Don’t worry—totally optional.)
-
Deck Management Upgrades – Assign card categories to specific hand slots and use hotkeys for quicker, cleaner deck sorting.
-
Audio Enhancements – Sound effects and music transitions will get a polish for a smoother, less jarring experience.
-
Sensitive Content Warning Toggle – A new setting that gives players a heads-up on potentially intense story beats, with the option to enable or disable.
But that’s not all. Players can also look forward to:
-
Manual Save/Load System
-
Full Controller and Steam Deck Optimization
-
A New Gallery Mode to view collected cards and story endings
Double Cross and 2P Games are clearly investing in Sultan’s Game for the long haul.
Strong Reception and Growing Community
The game is already climbing the charts on Steam, with a peak of over 34,000 concurrent players and a 90% positive rating from more than 6,000 user reviews. Not bad for a title built around anxiety-inducing decisions and constant political paranoia.
If you’re curious, Sultan’s Game is available now on PC via Steam, currently going for $22.49 (normally $24.99) as part of a launch discount.
