Street Fighter 6 Hits Major Milestone with 1 Million Sales in Japan

Capcom’s flagship fighting game Street Fighter 6 has achieved a significant milestone by selling over 1 million copies in Japan alone, as of December 20, 2025. This impressive figure includes both physical and digital sales across all gaming platforms in the Japanese market.

To celebrate this achievement, Capcom has launched several engaging promotional campaigns. The company is running a special merchandise sweepstakes on X (formerly Twitter) until February 21, 2025, exclusively for Japanese residents. According to Capcom’s announcement, lucky winners can take home various prizes, ranging from themed T-shirts to a premium 23.8-inch gaming monitor.

Additionally, Capcom released a special interview featuring Terunofuji Haruo, a former sumo wrestler who reached the prestigious Yokozuna rank. The interview explores the connection between sumo wrestling and Street Fighter 6, highlighting the in-game character Edmond Honda and the game’s official tournaments being hosted at the Ryogoku Kokugikan National Sumo Arena, a well-known venue for sumo events. Worldwide, Street Fighter 6 reached 2 million sales by July 2023, 3 million sales by January 2024, and 4 million sales by September 2024.

Currently, Street Fighter 6 is available across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and PC. Japanese arcade fans can also enjoy the game through a special arcade version titled Street Fighter 6: Type Arcade, which is available in amusement centers throughout the country.
