Star Wars Hunters is coming to PC via Steam Early Access in 2025, marking a significant expansion for the competitive arena shooter. Developed by Zynga, a studio renowned for mobile gaming successes, Star Wars Hunters first launched in June 2024 exclusively on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. The game quickly built a loyal community with its fast-paced multiplayer action, vibrant characters, and engaging gameplay.
The PC version promises several technical upgrades, including higher-resolution textures, improved shadows on maps, and enhanced rendering quality for both environments and character models.
Yaron Leyvand, Executive Vice President at Zynga, shared his excitement about the transition to PC, stating, “The success of Star Wars Hunters on mobile and Nintendo Switch devices has led to our decision to expand the game to PC. This is something our community of fans has been asking for, and we are very excited to welcome even more players to Vespaara.”
The move to PC is a strategic decision. Live-service games thrive on active player bases, and expanding to PC not only increases the audience but also supports the game’s long-term health. This release also marks Zynga’s first foray into the PC gaming market, showcasing the company’s commitment to broadening its reach beyond mobile platforms.
Set in the aftermath of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Hunters unfolds on the remote planet of Vespaara. Here, a cunning showrunner hosts a high-stakes competition, bringing together some of the galaxy’s most formidable warriors and brilliant tacticians. The game blends elements of classic competition stories like The Running Man and Smash TV with the rich lore of the Star Wars universe.
A key highlight of Star Wars Hunters is its colorful cast of characters. From Rieve, a menacing Dark Side assassin, to Utooni, two resourceful Jawa brothers hidden under a single trench coat, each competitor adds a unique flair to the game. Their diverse abilities enable players to experiment with various strategies in fast-paced matches. The game’s simplicity and engaging character interplay set it apart from more complex shooters like Rainbow Six Siege.
