Hazelight Games’ newest co-op adventure game “Split Fiction” has reached a new milestone by selling 2 million copies in just one week after its release. The game launched on March 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.
The studio shared this on X, expressing that they are “blown away” by the support from both new and longtime fans. This latest success builds on the game’s strong start, which saw 1 million copies sold within just 48 hours of release.
The actual number of players participating in the game is likely much higher than the sales figures suggest. Split Fiction includes a Friend’s Pass feature that allows someone who purchased the game to invite a friend to play along without buying a separate copy.
This impressive performance follows in the footsteps of Hazelight’s previous hit title, “It Takes Two,” which won Game of the Year in 2021. That game showed similar early success, selling about 1 million copies within weeks of its March 2021 launch. As reported by Hazelight, It Takes Two went on to reach 10 million copies sold by February 2023, later climbing to 20 million by October 2024.
Split Fiction continues the studio’s focus on dual-protagonist storytelling, featuring characters Mio and Zoe in a science fiction setting. The game’s strong commercial performance reinforces Hazelight’s reputation for creating compelling cooperative experiences that resonate with gaming audiences.
