Sony has revealed the lineup for its PlayStation Tournaments scheduled for December 2024. These tournaments, a feature on the PS5 since November 2022, allow players to engage in competitive gaming from their homes. With unique rules and challenges, each tournament offers players a chance to win exclusive rewards, such as in-game cosmetics, avatars, and cash prizes.
Details of the December 2024 Tournaments
The PlayStation Tournaments will take place from December 6 to December 8. The featured games include:
- EA Sports FC 25
- NBA 2K25
- Tekken 8
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Madden NFL 25
- College Football 25
- UFC 5
- MLB The Show 24
- Guilty Gear Strive
Participants can register for one or multiple tournaments through the Game Hub on the PS5 menu or the PlayStation Competitions website. Winners will receive exclusive in-game items and avatars.
Accessible to All Players
One of the highlights of this event is that it coincides with PlayStation’s free multiplayer weekend promotion. From December 6 to December 8, players can join the competitions without requiring a PlayStation Plus subscription. As long as they own one of the specified games, they are eligible to participate, making the event accessible to a broader audience.
30th Anniversary Celebrations
December is particularly exciting for PlayStation fans as the brand celebrates its 30th anniversary. Sony is marking this milestone with a major sale on the PlayStation Store, offering discounts on nearly 500 games until December 20, 2024. The sale includes popular titles like The Last of Us Part I and II, God of War, and Ghost of Tsushima. Featured tournament games such as Tekken 8, EA Sports FC 25, and Madden NFL 25 are also included in the discounts.
Additionally, Sony is offering special 30th-anniversary themes for the PS5. These themes allow players to customize their home screens with visuals and sounds inspired by iconic PlayStation consoles from the past.
