Sony Interactive Entertainment has reportedly ended its business relationship with Sweet Baby Inc., a Canadian consulting company known for narrative design and diversity inclusion services in video games. This decision has allegedly led to the cancellation of several game projects both companies were collaborating on.

Sweet Baby Inc. has worked with many major gaming studios including Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Warner Bros. Games. The company provides services related to storytelling development and inclusivity consulting. However, according to a report by Gothic Therapy, Sony has decided to terminate contracts specifically with Sweet Baby Inc. attached.

While specific titles weren’t named in the report, the cancellations were described as “deliberate” rather than random restructuring efforts.

The report suggests that these cancellations may be part of Sony’s broader strategy to reassess approaches to narrative design and inclusivity in their games. Earlier this year, multiple reports indicated that Sony was quietly cancelling approximately half a dozen games that were already in development, some of which had been in production for years.

One of the more significant claims from Gothic Therapy’s insider is that Sweet Baby Inc. was involved in a follow-up project to God of War Ragnarok. Whether this was planned as DLC, a spin-off featuring Atreus, or a full sequel remains unclear. However, the source indicates this project may no longer be moving forward.

Sweet Baby Inc. previously had narrative involvement with God of War Ragnarok, a connection the company has publicly acknowledged. If Sony has indeed pulled the plug on a flagship project because of Sweet Baby Inc.’s involvement, this could signal a significant shift in Sony’s content development strategy.

While Gothic Therapy stands by their source, they acknowledge that without official confirmation from Sony, this information should be treated as a rumor.
