Xbox fans have been hit with a series of disappointing news lately, as several highly anticipated games face delays on Microsoft’s gaming platforms.
One latest addition to the list is Konami and Bloober Team’s upcoming release, Silent Hill 2 Remake, an advanced version of the classic 2001 game.
Initially, the game was announced for PlayStation 5 and PC only. However, the latest “Immersion Trailer” for Silent Hill 2 on YouTube stated that the game will be available on “other platforms” but not until October 8, 2025. Although it’s unclear which platforms these are, many believe it will eventually be released on Xbox Series X/S. This means that after one year of exclusivity, Xbox players may finally get their hands on the game.
The trailer also highlights the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller, showing how it will enhance the gaming experience with 4K graphics, 3D audio, haptic feedback, and adaptive triggers. While there were initial concerns from fans based on early images, Bloober Team managed to turn the tide and now has gamers eagerly anticipating the remake.
Black Myth: Wukong: Dont Know Why
At the same time, another major game, Black Myth: Wukong, is also facing delays for Xbox users. Released on August 20, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC, Xbox players are still waiting without a clear release date.
Rumors have stirred around, with some speculating it was due to the challenges of running the game on the Xbox Series S or even an exclusivity deal with PlayStation. However, a Microsoft representative has clarified to Forbes that the delay is not due to Xbox hardware issues, though they didn’t comment on deals between developers and other platforms.
Notably, the Spanish leaker eXtas1s claims that the delay stems from a “Memory Leak,” issue which causes crashes on Xbox consoles. Because of this, Black Myth: Wukong hasn’t passed Xbox’s bug testing and will remain delayed until the issue is resolved.
In the meantime, the game has sold over 20 million copies across both platforms, and the developer has already hinted at the first DLC coming in 2025.
Capcom’s Fighting Game Collections: A Long Wait for Xbox Fans
Capcom’s much-anticipated fighting game collections, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics and Capcom Fighting Collection 2, have also been delayed on Xbox.
Initially, there were concerns that these titles would skip Xbox entirely. However, Capcom has recently confirmed that, after some “technical discussions” with Microsoft, both games will arrive on Xbox One in 2025. While the exact reasons for the delay remain unclear, some believe it could be linked to MT Framework issues.
This series of delays has been frustrating for Xbox fans, especially after Baldur’s Gate 3 was also released late on the platform last year due to technical complications with split-screen for multiplayer. Though delays seem to be a recurring theme for Xbox users, they can at least look forward to these anticipated games arriving—eventually.
