Rockstar Games has officially shut down the Lifeinvader website, a parody of Facebook introduced as part of the promotional campaign for Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5). Launched in September 2013, the site allowed fans to explore profiles of fictional characters and brands within the game. It was a clever promotional tool, blending humor and interactivity to immerse players further into the GTA universe.
Fans cherished this creative approach to marketing. Rockstar didn’t stop at Lifeinvader; the company developed multiple websites to enrich the game’s narrative and give a glimpse into its satirical world. Many are now hoping for a similar effort ahead of Grand Theft Auto VI.
The Lifeinvader site wasn’t just for show. It provided functional features for GTA Online players. By logging in with a Rockstar Games Social Club account, players could interact with in-game content by “stalking” profiles, commenting on posts, and even earning in-game rewards. Clicking on specific ads offered discounts on virtual goods, like vehicles from Legendary Motorsport or a free can of Sprunk.
Unfortunately, visiting Lifeinvader.com today redirects users to the official Rockstar Games website, specifically the Grand Theft Auto series page. Although parts of the site have been archived, its original functionality is lost. Some archived pages can still be accessed, but they are riddled with redirects and broken features.
