In response to the devastating wildfires affecting Los Angeles, Riot Games has announced special in-game fundraising events across its popular titles VALORANT and League of Legends.
The gaming giant, headquartered in Los Angeles, is taking multiple steps to support both its employees and the broader community during this crisis.
Starting January 22, VALORANT players can contribute to relief efforts through the EX.O Collection, which will be transformed into a Give Back Bundle. Available until January 30, proceeds from this bundle’s weapon skins and accessories will be directed to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund, a charitable initiative sponsored by ImpactAssets.
League of Legends players aren’t left out of this charitable endeavor. From January 23 to February 5, they’ll have a unique opportunity to purchase the rare Firefighter Tristana skin, which hasn’t been available since its original release in 2010. All proceeds from this special skin release will also support the Social Impact Fund’s disaster relief efforts.
Beyond these gaming initiatives, Riot has displayed its dedication to the local community through various direct actions. The company has:
- Provided temporary housing and emergency stipends to affected employees
- Supplied a backup generator to a local fire station that lost power
- Donated 400 meals to firefighters and frontline responders
To amplify its impact, Riot has also launched a “double-donation” campaign last week. This initiative tripled employee contributions to organizations like:
- California Fire Foundation
- Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation
- International Medical Corps
- American Red Cross
- World Central Kitchen
VALORANT Esports has joined the effort too, with Head of VALORANT Esports Leo Faria using the VALORANT Champions Tour Americas broadcast to encourage viewers to support relief organizations.
Despite their headquarters being just miles from the Palisades Fire, Riot has maintained operations through a hybrid work model, ensuring minimal disruption to their gaming services while prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
