Ring-1, a cheat provider for the popular game, has announced that it will discontinue its cheat services for the game, Destiny 2.
This decision follows mounting legal pressure from Bungie, the game’s developer, who, in collaboration with Ubisoft, filed lawsuits in 2021 seeking $2.2 million in damages.
According to The GamePost, Ring-1 shared the update via Telegram, stating it would “discontinue support for our Destiny 2 cheats.” Current subscribers can use the cheats until their subscriptions expire, but renewals will no longer be available.
As TorrentFreak previously reported, Ring-1 is known for creating and distributing cheat software for games like Destiny 2 and Rainbow Six Siege. Their subscription model allows users to access cheats for a fee, charging €30 per week or €60 per month for Destiny 2 cheats.
Bungie and Ubisoft argue that the cheat software allows players to gain unfair advantages, damaging the gaming experience for others while also harming the companies’ reputations and businesses. The lawsuit, filed in 2021, sought to stop the “unlawful, for-profit sale, and distribution” of these cheats. Last year, two individuals named in the lawsuit settled with the companies for $300,000.
Bungie has consistently enforced a zero-tolerance policy against cheating in Destiny 2, having taken several cheat providers to court in recent years. Notable cases include:
- AimJunkies (2021 – 2024): $63,210 in damages
- Lavicheats (2021 – 2023): $6.7 million in damages
- VeteranCheats (2021 – 2024): $12 million in damages
- Elite Boss Tech (2021 – 2023): $16 million in damages
Given the outcomes of these cases, it’s likely that Ring-1’s decision to cease support for its Destiny 2 cheats was influenced by similar legal concerns. While the group hasn’t explicitly stated the reason, the ongoing lawsuits seem to have played a significant role in their choice to discontinue the service.
