Ubisoft‘s latest entry in the Prince of Persia franchise, “The Lost Crown,” has reportedly sold 1.3 million units in its first year.

The news came from Insider Gaming which cited a Ubisoft Associate Marketing Director’s LinkedIn profile as a reference.

However, this milestone is not enough for the developers as they stated in the latest financial result that the game failed to meet the expectations. As a result, plans for a potential sequel have been shelved, and the development team has been redistributed to other projects within the company. These projects include the long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2, a new Ghost Recon game (codenamed Project Over), and a Rayman Remake being developed at Ubisoft Milan.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Persia franchise continues to evolve in other directions. The highly anticipated remake of the 2010’s Sands of Time movie has been rebooted and is now slated for a 2026 release. This remake represents a fresh start for the project, with major changes including the replacement of original actor Yuri Lowenthal.
