DeNA and The Pokémon Company’s latest mobile sensation, Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, has achieved an impressive milestone, crossing $400 million in gross revenue within 10 weeks of its global release on October 30, 2024. As of January 7, 2025, the game has earned $403 million across the App Store and Google Play, according to AppMagic estimates.
With this achievement, Pokémon TCG Pocket is now the second highest-grossing mobile game in the Pokémon franchise, trailing only the legendary Pokémon Go.
The game hit $200 million in revenue on its 31st day and took an additional 35 days to double that amount. Although daily earnings in the second month were more inconsistent than the first, Pokémon TCG Pocket maintained strong performance.
Japan Leads the Way
Japan has proven to be the top market for Pokémon TCG Pocket, contributing 43% of total revenue despite accounting for only 9% of total downloads. This translates to $172 million from Japanese players alone.
The United States ranks second, contributing 26% of the revenue or approximately $104 million. These two countries are the only markets to generate nine-figure earnings for the game.
A Record-Breaking Success
Despite launching late in 2024, Pokémon TCG Pocket became the third highest-earning new mobile game of the year. By January 7, 2025, daily revenue had dropped to a record low of $2.7 million, potentially signaling a lull as players await new content. December 21 marked the game’s most lucrative day yet, earning $8.7 million, fueled by the release of the “Mythical Island” expansion pack, which added over 80 new cards.
