Sony‘s first State of Play presentation of 2025 took place on February 12, bringing an exciting lineup of game trailers, announcements, and release date confirmations for PlayStation 5. The digital showcase marked the return of the event after its last edition in September 2024, which featured highlights like Monster Hunter Wilds, Alan Wake 2: The Lake House, and the debut of Ghost of Yotei.
This time, the presentation offered updates on major titles, the return of fan-favorite franchises, and some surprising reveals. Here’s everything that was announced.
Major Game Announcements
Monster Hunter Wilds
Capcom kicked off the event with a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, set to release on February 28, 2025. The showcase also confirmed that Mizutsune will arrive in the game’s first free title update later this spring.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
SEGA revealed the return of its classic ninja-platformer franchise with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance. Developed by Lizardcube, the game is set for release on August 29, 2025.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds
A new addition to the Sonic Racing series, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds, was announced. While a specific launch date was not confirmed, a closed beta test will be available on February 21, 2025.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger
Bandai Namco officially confirmed the long-rumored Digimon Story: Time Stranger with a brand-new trailer, bringing the next entry in the Digimon RPG series.
Lost Soul Aside
The highly anticipated action-adventure game Lost Soul Aside received a new gameplay trailer and a release date of May 30, 2025.
Like a Dragon Updates
Two updates were shared for the Like a Dragon franchise. A demo for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza will be available this week, and Ichiban Kasuga will make an appearance in Dave the Diver as part of the Ichiban’s Holiday DLC.
WWE 2K25 – The Island Mode
WWE’s Paul Heyman introduced The Island, a social hub world coming to WWE 2K25 in March. This online space will allow up to 50 players to engage in activities like wrestling, shopping for customization items, and more.
Borderlands 4
Gearbox Entertainment confirmed that Borderlands 4 will launch on September 23, 2025, alongside a brand-new gameplay trailer.
Directive 8020
Supermassive Games’ next horror adventure, Directive 8020, is set in outer space where a mysterious substance transforms humans into monsters. The game launches in October 2025.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic
A new horror entry in the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, Secret of the Mimic, was revealed. The game launches on June 13, 2025.
The Midnight Walk
Indie studio Moonwood introduced The Midnight Walk, a claymation-style horror game launching on May 6, 2025.
Onimusha 2 Remaster & Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Capcom confirmed that Onimusha 2 Remaster will launch on May 23, 2025, while Onimusha: Way of the Sword, featuring Miyamoto Musashi, is set for 2026.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Following leaks earlier in the week, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater officially debuted at State of Play. The game will release on August 28, 2025, and will feature the return of the Snake vs. Monkey minigames.
Days Gone Remastered
Sony confirmed that Days Gone Remastered will be released on April 25, 2025, with PS5-exclusive features, including VRR support, permadeath mode, speedrun challenges, and enhanced visuals. PS4 owners can upgrade to the remastered version for $10.
Tides of Annihilation
Eclipse Glow Games revealed Tides of Annihilation, an action-adventure game set in an alternate monster-infested London.
Saros – Housemarque’s Next Game
Housemarque, known for Returnal, unveiled Saros, a sci-fi action game starring Rahul Kohli as Arjun Devraj, a soldier battling an ominous cosmic force. The game will launch in 2026.
Dreams of Another
An atmospheric narrative-driven sci-fi adventure, Dreams of Another explores the mysteries of a distant planet and is set to launch in late 2025.
Hell Is Us
Rogue Factor’s surreal action-adventure game, Hell Is Us, received a new gameplay trailer, highlighting its brutal combat and enigmatic world. It launches in 2025.
Darwin’s Paradox
From the creators of Inside and Limbo, Darwin’s Paradox is a mystery-driven puzzle platformer with a dark, eerie atmosphere, releasing in early 2026.
