Player Launches Campaign to Save Dead by Daylight Mobile from Shutdown

Dead by Daylight

A passionate Dead by Daylight Mobile player is taking a stand to keep the survival horror game alive following the recent announcement to shut it down in early 2025.

Following the official announcement, dedicated fan Alexander Azarov has launched a petition on Change.org, urging the publishers to reconsider their decision. His campaign has already gained over 3,000 verified signatures, underscoring the strong emotional bond players share with the game. In his petition, Azarov states, “The mobile version gave everyone, from the poor to the rich, the opportunity to play the role of a survivor or a killer and have fun in this amazing world.”

Dead by Daylight, developed and published by Behaviour Interactive, is a well-known asymmetric multiplayer survival horror game. First released for PC on June 14, 2016, it later expanded to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, Nintendo Switch in 2019, and eventually mobile platforms (Android and iOS) on April 17, 2020, with support from NetEase Games. However, changes in NetEase’s development and operational strategies led to the decision to discontinue Dead by Daylight Mobile. In December 2024, NetEase confirmed that the game would officially shut down on March 20, 2025. Furthermore, starting January 15, 2025, Dead by Daylight Mobile will no longer be available for download on both the App Store and Google Play.

This announcement has left many fans puzzled, especially considering the game’s impressive success since its launch. Upon its limited regional release in April 2020, the mobile version amassed over one million downloads within just 48 hours. By its first anniversary, the game had exceeded 17 million downloads worldwide. Recent data from analytics platform Similarweb revealed that in October 2024 alone, the game recorded approximately 75,000 downloads on Google Play, demonstrating consistent player interest.

In light of the shutdown, Behaviour Interactive is actively encouraging mobile players to transition to the PC or console versions of Dead by Daylight. To ease this shift, the developers are offering a welcome package for mobile users who link their game data to their Behaviour Interactive account. This package includes at least 500,000 Dead by Daylight Blood Points and 2,250 Iridescent Shards. Interestingly, even existing PC or console players can take advantage of this offer.
