Kinetic Games has unveiled its ambitious 2025 roadmap for Phasmophobia, detailing major updates, map reworks, and seasonal events planned throughout the year for the popular ghost-hunting game.
According to the developer’s official blog post, the first significant update, dubbed “Chronicle,” will revolutionize how players document their paranormal investigations. This update introduces a new Media tab replacing the current Photos section, allowing players to capture and store photos, videos, and audio recordings in one centralized location.
The development team has revealed plans for a comprehensive Player Character Overhaul, focusing on improving the ghost hunter experience. This update will include refreshed character models and enhanced animations. However, the studio has decided to postpone full character customization features to 2026, prioritizing the development of their anticipated Horror 2.0 update.
Map improvements form a crucial part of the 2025 roadmap. The development team announced three major map reworks:
- Bleasdale Farmhouse (launching March 2025)
- Grafton Farmhouse
- 6 Tanglewood Drive
According to Kinetic Games, these reworks will feature complete artistic overhauls, including new assets, improved animations, and subtle layout modifications while maintaining the familiar atmosphere that players have come to appreciate through countless investigations.
The studio has also confirmed plans for a new map, however, these future maps will be “relatively small” to enable more frequent releases.
Seasonal events will continue to play a significant role in 2025. Based on player feedback from previous events, the Halloween Blood Moon cult activities and the winter-themed Krampus hunt will return with enhanced features. The studio plans to introduce a fresh take on their Easter event, with all seasonal content now rotating across multiple maps on a weekly basis.

While specific details remain confidential, the studio highlights their commitment to developing the game based on community feedback and innovative gameplay mechanics.
In a separate post, the developer also announced the game has reached 2 million console players since the port in October 2024. Overall, Phasmophobia now has gained over 22 million players across all platforms.
