Blizzard Entertainment has announced that China will join the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) 2025 as the fourth official region. This expansion brings China alongside existing regions North America (NA), Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and Asia.
The highlight of this announcement is the introduction of three major international live events throughout 2025, with China hosting one of them. The Champions Clash, scheduled for April 2025, will take place at the Hangzhou Esports Center in Hangzhou, China. This tournament will feature eight teams from around the world, with two teams qualifying from each OWCS region, setting the stage for intense global competition.
Following the Champions Clash, the competition will move to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Midseason Championship in July 2025 at Esports World Cup.
The competitive year will culminate in the OWCS 2025 World Finals, hosted at DreamHack Stockholm, Sweden, in November 2025.
Beyond the premier circuit, the ecosystem includes amateur competitions through initiatives like Calling All Heroes (CAH), Overwatch Collegiate, and Overwatch Scholastic. These tournaments are supported by partnered platforms including FACEIT, Start.GG, and WaraGG, creating a robust framework for competitive play at all levels.
While specific details about the tournament structure and qualification process for the Champions Clash are yet to be announced, organizers have indicated that more information will be shared soon through their official channels.
