Nintendo Reveals Japan’s Top 30 Most Downloaded Switch Games For 2024

Overcooked 2, Suika Game, the exit 8

Nintendo has officially revealed the Top 30 most downloaded games on the Nintendo Switch from eShop in Japan for 2024.

Spotlight on the Top 5 Games

For the second consecutive year, Suika Game by Aladdin X has secured the top spot. Its simple yet addictive gameplay, which combines puzzle-solving with fruit-merging mechanics, continues to captivate players across Japan. The game’s low price and endless replayability have solidified its dominance on the charts.

In second place is Exit 8, a new entry by Kotake Create/Playism released in April 2024. It is a walking simulator video game that revolves around the player walking through a Japanese metro station passageway, trying to spot inaccuracies to reach the exit of the station.

One of the most interesting stories this year is Overcooked! 2 by Team17, which jumped from 8th place in 2023 to 3rd place in 2024. This sudden surge can be attributed to multiple factors, including a promotional discount campaign, an increase in online multiplayer activity, and continued word-of-mouth popularity. Its chaotic, fun-filled co-op gameplay remains a hit among friends and families.

In fourth place is DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake by Square Enix. Despite being a recent release in November 2024, it quickly climbed the rankings due to its nostalgic appeal and modernized visuals.

Rounding out the Top 5 is Monster Hunter Rise by Capcom, a title first launched in 2021. The game’s consistent updates, collaborative events, and loyal fanbase have kept it relevant in a highly competitive market.
