Nexon Confirms Addition of Jiggle Physics to The First Descendant

The First Descendant character the ultimate bunny

Nexon‘s free-to-play co-op shooter, The First Descendant, is about to get a controversial update that has fans buzzing. In a recent Discord Q&A, the game’s development team made a surprising announcement: “jiggle physics are officially on their way to the game.”

What is Jiggle Physics?

For those unfamiliar, jiggle physics are animations that create more realistic body movements in video games, making character motions look more natural and less rigid. While the term might sound technical, it essentially means making character movements look more lifelike.

However, jiggle physics has often been criticized for contributing to the over-sexualization of female characters in video games. Critics argue that such exaggerated bodily movements can diminish these characters, especially women, to mere objects of visual allure, overshadowing their significance as fully-fledged individuals with substantial roles in the story.

The Announcement

According to a report by Videogamer, TFD_PD_Lee, a representative from the development team, shared the “important news” in a late-night message that caught players’ attention. “After a lengthy discussion with the AD, a decision has been made to add the much-requested ‘Jiggle Physics,'” the developer explained. The announcement came with a playful tone, reminiscent of late-night gaming updates.

Player Choice is the Key

Understanding that not all players want this feature, Nexon is implementing a toggle option. Players will be able to turn jiggle physics on or off according to their preference.

What’s Coming in Season 2

The jiggle physics aren’t the only exciting update. Season 2, scheduled to launch on December 5th, will bring:

  • New playable characters – two standard Descendants (one male, one female) and an Ultimate Descendant
  • Potential rework of the Luna character
  • Discussions about adding a graphics option above Ultra for high-end hardware
  • New hairstyle options
  • Target Reward system

When to Expect the Update

While an exact date hasn’t been confirmed, the developers hint that the feature might arrive around or shortly after Season 2’s launch. The team is still finalizing the details and promises to provide more information in future updates.
