Epic Games’ Fortnite has once again taken the top position on Newzoo’s overall revenue and engagement charts for December 2024 in 6 key markets, pushing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2/3/Warzone/Black Ops 6 down to third place in revenue and fourth place in monthly active users (MAU).
Path of Exile 2 and Marvel Rivals Debut in the Top 10
Among new releases, Path of Exile 2 secured the No.5 spot on the revenue charts during its launch month, while Marvel Rivals followed closely at No.6.
Both titles performed strongly, with Marvel Rivals also ranking third in player engagement, overtaking several popular live-service games. Meanwhile, its competitor Overwatch 2 experienced the biggest drop in MAU, falling from No.9 to No.12.
RPGs Surge Back into the Top 20 After Holiday Discounts
A trio of role-playing games made a comeback in the Top 20 following holiday promotions. Hogwarts Legacy climbed to No.13, Cyberpunk 2077 landed at No.17, and Baldur’s Gate 3 returned at No.19. These discounts contributed significantly to increased sales and engagement during the festive season.
Platform-Specific Highlights: Indiana Jones and Gran Turismo 7 Make an Impact
On platform-specific rankings, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle debuted at No.10 on PC and No.13 on Xbox, despite not being available on PlayStation. Newzoo attributed its engagement boost to its Day One release on Xbox Game Pass.
Additionally, Gran Turismo 7 saw a major surge, jumping from No.39 to No.14 on PlayStation, following its 25th anniversary celebrations.
