Job Listing Sparks Rumors of New DC Universe Game from WB Games Montréal

Gotham Knights by WB Games Montréal

WB Games Montréal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, seems to be gearing up for a new AAA game set in the DC Comics universe.

A recent job listing posted by the studio is looking for a Senior Producer to manage the development of a major new title, which is expected to be based on DC Comics characters. This role will oversee the entire project, from its concept phase to release, indicating that this is likely a brand-new, unannounced game.

The studio, best known for its work on Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins, is no stranger to the Batman franchise. While it’s unclear if this new project will follow in the footsteps of their previous Batman-related titles, fans are already speculating that it could be tied to the Dark Knight’s universe.

Gotham Knights, which launched in October 2022, focused on the Batman Family—Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin—protecting Gotham in the absence of Batman. The game received mixed reviews, although recent feedback has become more positive.

WB Games Montréal has remained quiet since the release of Gotham Knights, but signs have emerged from time to time that they’re brewing something new. Rumors first surfaced in December 2022 when Bryan Theberge, a producer at WB Games Montréal, updated his LinkedIn profile to mention he was involved in a “yet-to-be-announced project.” More clues came more recently in March 2024, when a creative director position was posted, suggesting the studio was working on a AAA game based on “a popular franchise.”

Now, with the latest job listing for a Senior Producer, it’s becoming clearer that the studio’s new project is set in the DC Comics universe. While specific details remain scarce, this is the most concrete evidence yet of WB Games Montréal’s next big game. Some fans are hoping for a Superman-focused title, though no official hints have confirmed which characters or stories will be featured.

Recent DC Comics video game projects have struggled to meet commercial and critical expectations. Gotham Knights had a rocky launch, and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, developed by Rocksteady, has also faced negative reception and over “$200 million loss“.

Meanwhile, Monolith Productions is working on a Wonder Woman game and there are also rumors that Rocksteady may be working on a new Batman game set in the universe of Matt Reeves’ 2022 film.

With multiple DC-related projects in development, it’s clear that Warner Bros. remains committed to bringing its iconic comic characters to the gaming world. Fans will have to wait and see what WB Games Montréal’s next move will be.
