Netmarble Games’ Solo Leveling: Arise has achieved an impressive milestone, surpassing $100 million in gross revenue just three months after its launch in May 2024.
According to data from Sensor Tower, the game made an immediate impact, ranking as the #1 hack-and-slash game, #2 action game, and #14 mobile game worldwide by revenue across App Stores. This performance outpaced other popular titles like PUBG Mobile, Genshin Impact, and Clash of Clans.
While monthly revenue has shown signs of slowing down, the game’s overall earnings continue to grow, reflecting its strong market presence. South Korea stands out as the game’s largest revenue contributor, accounting for 33% of total earnings. This aligns naturally with the IP’s South Korean roots, as the game is based on a widely celebrated Korean web novel and webtoon. The United States follows as the second-highest revenue-generating region, contributing 19% of total sales.
In terms of downloads, Asia remains a significant hub, with India and Indonesia leading the charts. Meanwhile, the US, Brazil, and South Korea occupy the third, fourth, and fifth spots in downloads, respectively.
A recent report by Niko Partners reveals an interesting trend in South Korea: over 90% of gamers now play across multiple platforms, including mobile and consoles. This shift has been fueled by a 30% year-over-year increase in mobile gamers exploring console gaming as well.
The success of Solo Leveling: Arise highlights not just the game’s appeal but also the broader trend of IP-driven cross-platform entertainment experiences. As Netmarble continues to build on this momentum, it will be interesting to see how the game’s performance evolves in the coming months.
