The indie horror game Mouthwashing has reached to new milestone selling 500,000 copies on PC since its release in September 2024. Following this success, the game is now set to expand to consoles.

Developer Wrong Organ and publisher Critical Reflex have announced plans to bring their psychological horror title to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch platforms in 2025.

For collectors and physical copy enthusiasts, Fangamer will handle the distribution of physical editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch versions.

The game’s premise takes players into the depths of space, where they experience the haunting tale of a shipwrecked space freighter’s crew. At the center of this narrative is Captain Curly, whose actions set in motion a series of tragic events. Players must navigate through the psychological horror of surviving crew members who face the grim reality of limited resources and no hope for rescue.

The game features: Immersive Storytelling, Psychological Scares, First-Person Exploration, Nonlinear Narrative, Survival Mechanics, and Puzzle Solving.

  • OpenCritic reports show an equally strong performance with an 83/100 average and a remarkable 94% recommendation rate from top critics.

  • Balatro developer also praised the game with his own “Golden Thunk Award,” and shared an amusing anecdote: “I didn’t even know this was a horror game when I started playing it at 11pm one fateful night, I was hooked instantly, and both the world it created and the poignant message woven into the game stick with me vividly months later.

To celebrate this milestone, Wrong Organ has partnered with Fangamer to release merchandise including apparel, plushies, and vinyl records later in the year.

Mouthwashing is now priced at $12.99, making it an accessible entry point for horror gaming enthusiasts.
