Moonton Games, a subsidiary of ByteDance, has officially transferred the publishing rights for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) in the United States to Skystone Games, a California-based publisher.
This transition, effective on March 27, ensures that the game remains available in the U.S. despite regulatory challenges tied to ByteDance’s ownership, particularly following the temporary TikTok ban earlier in 2025.
The move does not involve a sale of Moonton or its assets but rather a shift in publishing responsibilities to a local entity.
As part of this change, the existing version of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang was temporarily removed from the Google Play Store in the U.S. on March 27, and replaced with a new version titled Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.US, published by Skystone Games.
For iOS users, the transition is still in progress, with Moonton working to expedite approval on the App Store.
Players are advised to bind their accounts in the current app to avoid losing progress during the switch. Existing players can continue playing without interruption, and new downloads are available under the updated version.
This shift also applies to other ByteDance titles like Mobile Legends: Adventure (MLA) and Marvel Snap in the U.S., with Skystone taking over publishing duties.
The decision reflects ByteDance’s strategy to maintain its gaming portfolio in the region amid pressures like the U.S. divest-or-ban bill affecting TikTok, which was briefly enforced before being delayed by an executive order from President Donald Trump until April 3, 2025.
Players can expect the same gameplay experience, with additional perks like exclusive rewards for transitioning to the new app.
