MOONTON Games is taking bold steps to grow its esports presence by launching tournaments for its newest game, Magic Chess: Go Go. This exciting development comes alongside major updates to their flagship game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s (MLBB) competitive schedule for 2025.
The company revealed these plans during the recent M6 Summit in Malaysia, where over 200 industry leaders gathered to discuss the future of gaming and esports. Magic Chess: Go Go, which has already attracted more than 10 million pre-registrations, will begin its competitive journey in Indonesia before expanding throughout Southeast Asia.
This new game isn’t entirely unfamiliar to MOONTON’s fanbase. Magic Chess actually started as a game mode within MLBB in 2020, but its growing popularity convinced developers to transform it into a standalone title. The game is currently in its soft launch phase in Malaysia and Singapore, with a wider release planned for the Asia-Pacific region in early 2025.
To ensure the game’s success in esports, MOONTON is building a comprehensive ecosystem. They’re partnering with various streaming platforms and working closely with influencers and content creators, who will serve as key opinion leaders (KOLs) for the game. The company is even hosting an exhibition match during the ongoing M6 World Championship to showcase the game’s potential.
Meanwhile, MOONTON isn’t forgetting about its powerhouse title, MLBB. The 2025 competitive calendar is packed with exciting events, including two major international tournaments. The Mid Season Cup (MSC) is scheduled for July-August 2025, while the M7 World Championship will take place in January 2026. These events will be supported by the MLBB Professional League (MPL) circuits running twice a year – from March to June and August to November.
Mike Chu, Head of Regional Esports & China at MOONTON Games, expressed enthusiasm about MLBB’s growing global reach, particularly highlighting their expansion into the Chinese market in 2024. He also celebrated the increasing competitive diversity in their tournaments, noting that the M6 World Championship saw teams from four different regions reach the semifinals – a first in the tournament’s history.
The company’s commitment to esports extends beyond just hosting tournaments. They’ve recently partnered with The Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) to strengthen the integrity of mobile esports. Additionally, MOONTON has signed an agreement with the Jordan Esports Federation to develop the gaming ecosystem in Jordan through events, educational programs, and talent development initiatives.
MLBB will also make history at the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand (December 2025) as the first confirmed esports title, featuring both men’s and women’s medal events. MOONTON has promised to support participating teams and national federations in their preparation for this prestigious event.
