Monster Hunter Wilds has achieved a remarkable milestone, selling over 8 million units in just three days after release.

This made it the fastest-selling game ever for Capcom.

These impressive sales figures account for all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

The game was officially launched on February 28, 2025, and immediately attracted a massive player base.

On its first day, Monster Hunter Wilds reached a concurrent player count of over 1 million on Steam, breaking the franchise’s previous record by three times.

The momentum continued into the second day, with player numbers peaking at 1.38 million, contributing to Steam’s record-breaking milestone of over 40 million users online simultaneously.

Even now, the game continues to attract over 1.1 million concurrent players daily, showcasing its strong staying power.

Capcom attributes this massive success to several factors. In an official press release, the company highlighted the game’s broad global appeal, its inclusion in major gaming events like PlayStation’s State of Play and The Game Awards, and the multiple online beta tests that allowed players to experience the game before its official launch. These initiatives helped build anticipation and excitement among fans worldwide.

Capcom also emphasized its commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences, stating, “Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities.”

The game’s stunning visuals, powered by Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE, and the addition of cross-play functionality have been key selling points. Cross-play allows players on different platforms to team up and hunt together, a first for the series.

Despite its overwhelming success, Monster Hunter Wilds faced some technical issues at launch. Capcom responded quickly by releasing a patch to fix a progress-blocking bug and improve overall performance. The company reassured players that they remain committed to providing the best possible experience by continuously refining the game.

Monster Hunter Wilds is now on track to potentially surpass its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, which remains Capcom’s best-selling title, with over 21.3 million units sold as of December 2024.

Other successful titles in the franchise include Monster Hunter Rise, with 16.7 million units sold.

The Monster Hunter series as a whole has sold over 108 million units globally, cementing its status as one of Capcom’s most lucrative franchises.

For PC players, the game has already inspired a dedicated modding community. Fans have released mods to bypass character creator monetization and tweak various settings, further enhancing the player experience.
