Monster Hunter Wilds has reached an impressive milestone, selling over 10 million copies in its first month and setting a new sales record for Capcom.

It is now the fastest-selling game in the company’s history.

The game’s success was evident from the start, with 8 million copies sold in just three days after launch and topping the USA’s best-selling yearly game charts in just two days.

Capcom points to several key factors behind this remarkable performance. For the first time in the series’ history, Monster Hunter Wilds features crossplay, allowing friends to hunt together regardless of their gaming platform.

The game also launched simultaneously on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC – a departure from previous entries that often saw delayed PC releases.

The title provides an environment where a wider range of players can enjoy the game together,” Capcom explained in their press statement.

The company also highlighted how new features like the Focus Mode mechanic and seamless world exploration have created a more immersive hunting experience.

The game has now secured the 7th spot on Capcom’s all-time bestsellers list. It’s closing in on Resident Evil Village’s lifetime sales and is making good progress toward Monster Hunter: World’s impressive 21.3 million units.

Game director Yuya Tokuda announced that players will receive a free in-game item pack as a thank-you gesture. The team is also committed to robust post-launch support, starting with Title Update 1 on April 4. This update will bring back the fan-favorite monster Mizutsune, introduce more challenging Tempered Monsters, and add the Grand Hall – a new social space where hunters can gather online.

Capcom’s roadmap includes balance adjustments planned for late May or the Title Update 2 in Summer 2025.

Quality-of-life improvements are also coming, along with PC performance optimizations and the return of the popular Layered Weapons customization system.

Despite some criticism regarding PC performance issues, complicated multiplayer systems, and balance concerns, these haven’t significantly hurt the game’s commercial success. Instead of waiting for a DLC expansion to fix these problems, Capcom has promised to address them in upcoming free updates.
