Marvel Snap Gets a Fresh Start with American Publisher After Unexpected Shutdown

The popular card game Marvel Snap has found a new home with American publisher Skystone Games. This move comes after a surprising incident where the game temporarily disappeared from US app stores during the recent TikTok ban controversy.

Why did this happen?

The game’s previous publisher, Nuverse, is owned by ByteDance – the same company that owns TikTok. When TikTok faced a temporary ban in the United States, Marvel Snap was unexpectedly caught in the crossfire, along with other games like Mobile Legends.

The game’s developer, Second Dinner, was just as shocked as its players by the sudden takedown. Although both TikTok and Marvel Snap were back online a day later (thanks to President Donald Trump’s executive order), Second Dinner decided it was time for a change to prevent future disruptions.

The search for a new publisher didn’t take long. Second Dinner is now partnered with California-based Skystone Games, known for publishing Tyrant’s Realm. But there’s more to this transition than just switching publishers – Second Dinner is also taking on more responsibilities themselves, showing their commitment to maintaining better control over their game’s future.

In a heartfelt message on Twitter, Second Dinner expressed their gratitude to their players: “Thank you for your incredible support and patience during the recent outage in the United States.” They explained that this new arrangement involves a collaborative effort between multiple parties, including Second Dinner, their former publisher Nuverse, their new publisher Skystone Games, and Marvel.

The developer emphasized that these changes are designed to ensure American players won’t face similar disruptions in the future.
