Nintendo game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has reached another sales milestone. According to the latest data from Famitsu, which tracks weekly physical software sales in Japan, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was among the top-selling games for the week. It secured the second position on the software charts, with over 7,000 units sold. More impressively, the game’s lifetime sales in Japan have now surpassed 6 million units.
Interestingly, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is not the best-selling Nintendo Switch game in Japan. That title belongs to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which has sold over 7.9 million units in the country and is steadily approaching the 8 million mark. Following Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with over 5.5 million units sold in Japan.
It’s important to note that these figures only represent physical sales. Japan tends to have a higher proportion of physical game sales compared to other regions. However, these numbers do not fully capture the total sales of these titles.
As of June 30, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s global sales have reached an impressive 62.9 million units.
