LGF The Ensemble initiative lineup

The London Games Festival has unveiled the 2025 lineup for its flagship Ensemble exhibition, an initiative that spotlights Black, Asian, and underrepresented professionals in the UK gaming industry.

Curated by author and artistic director Sharna Jackson, Ensemble is all about celebrating diversity and showcasing the work of talented individuals across different roles in gaming.

The exhibition kicks off at the New Game Plus expo from April 3 to April 4, 2025, at the London Museum, followed by an installation at Trafalgar Square on April 11. With support from the Mayor of London and organization by Games London, the festival continues to champion inclusivity and representation in gaming.

This year’s lineup features eight industry pros who are making waves in game development, art, programming, and community engagement:

  • Annabel Ashalley-Anthony, CEO and founder of Melanin Games, has worked with EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and ZA/UM Studio on diversity initiatives.
  • Jonas Gawe, a community manager and event organizer, has teamed up with Into Games, Limit Break, and Electric Saint on Crescent County while also leading masterclasses at industry events.
  • John Giwa-Amu, producer and founder of Good Gate Media, has played a big role in interactive experiences like The Complex, Five Dates, Ten Dates, Night Book, and Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus.
  • Patrick Haraguti, creative director and founder of Ronin Game Studio, brings more than 20 years of experience as a 3D artist and VFX supervisor.
  • Bulut Karakaya, lead programmer at Ustwo, has helped bring to life beloved titles like Monument Valley 3 and Desta: Between Memories, and has even co-founded two indie studios.
  • Zakia Khan, a senior character artist and lead artist, has worked with major studios like Rare, Lucid Games, NaturalMotion, and Mediatonic Games.
  • Tara Mustapha, founder and CEO of Code Coven, has worked on games like Cartomancy, Detours, and Insecure – The Come Up Game, while also collaborating with Google, Netflix, and Meta.
  • Sarah York, founder of Panda Cat Games, has previously worked at Team17, GREE, Sony Liverpool, and Rocksteady, contributing to hits like Batman: Arkham Knight and Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Jackson emphasized why this exhibition is so important, saying, “Vibrant and essential work is being created by Black, Asian, and minority ethnic talent in the UK’s games industry every day. Let’s celebrate that. Let’s highlight these achievements—especially in this climate—to encourage and support the next generation of talent.

Since its launch in 2018, the Ensemble exhibition has been a core part of the London Games Festival, amplifying diverse voices in gaming. The exhibition features specially commissioned portraits by photographer Joshua Fray, along with profiles that tell the stories of this year’s cohort.
