The Esports Club (TEC), a prominent organizer of esports tournaments, has revealed a complete roadmap for League of Legends (LoL) in India and South Asia.
This announcement comes in collaboration with Riot Games, the creators of LoL, who had initially shared their interest in expanding to the Indian market in early 2024. Riot Games recognizes the growing enthusiasm for LoL in India and has introduced several initiatives to support and nurture the community.
The roadmap for LoL in India and South Asia is a well-thought-out strategy that includes various types of tournaments and events. These events range from community-driven competitions to influencer-led tournaments and exclusive invitational matches. The goal is to create opportunities for both amateur and professional players, offering them a competitive platform while building a strong sense of community around the game.
To ensure these events are successful, TEC has secured sponsorship from leading brands. Crucial by Micron, known for its memory and storage solutions, is the official “Presented by Sponsor,” while Zotac Gaming, a key player in gaming hardware, is the “Powered by Sponsor.” These partnerships aim to enhance the overall experience for participants and viewers, ensuring top-quality events throughout the year.
Here is a breakdown of the key events in the League of Legends India & South Asia 2024 Roadmap:
- TEC Community Cup – July Open (Completed)
- TEC Community Cup – August Open (Completed)
- TEC Streamer Clash Invitational – September (Completed)
- Influencer Driven Community Clash – September to December (In Progress)
- TEC Community Clash – December (Upcoming)
In addition to these events, TEC has introduced the TEC Rift Rulers Leaderboard, which tracks the performance of South Asia’s top teams. The top four teams at the end of the Influencer Community Clash will receive direct invitations to compete in the TEC Community Clash in December.
Vamsi Krishna, Managing Director of Basik Marketing, expressed his excitement about this collaboration, stating,
“We are grateful to Riot Games for once again placing their trust in The Esports Club. Having partnered before, we’re eager to advance this collaboration and elevate the esports ecosystem. This roadmap is more than just a series of tournaments; it’s a strategic initiative to build a dynamic community where competition, collaboration, and camaraderie are central. We’re proud to support this endeavour and look forward to its impact on the regional gaming landscape.”
Rajesh Gupta, Director Sales – India & SAARC at Micron, echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that their partnership with TEC and Riot Games highlights their commitment to fostering esports talent. He said:
“At Micron, we are committed to supporting the vibrant gaming community through cutting-edge technology and strategic partnerships with our industry-leading Crucial branded products. Our collaboration with The Esports Club and League of Legends for this roadmap exemplifies our dedication to nurturing esports talent and enhancing the competitive gaming landscape. We are excited to see how these tournaments will push boundaries and drive innovation in the region.”
The initial events, such as the July and August TEC Community Cup, saw significant participation, with grassroots players getting a chance to showcase their skills.
The TEC Streamer Clash Invitational in September featured well-known streamers, adding excitement to the scene.
The Influencer Driven Community Clash is currently underway, showcasing prominent personalities such as ShreeMan LegenD, MidFailYT, iFlicks, SKplz, and SID.
So far, over 500 teams have participated in these events, garnering over 500,000 views.
With India’s gaming market rapidly expanding, projected to generate $1.4 billion in revenue by 2028 and reach 730.7 million gamers, this roadmap is well-positioned to take advantage of the booming industry.
It not only aims to engage current players but also to attract new ones, strengthening the League of Legends community in the region.
