KRAFTON’s The Sims Competitor inZOI Delayed to 2025

KRAFTON has officially announced that its highly anticipated life simulation game, inZOI, will now be released on March 28, 2025.

The game was initially scheduled to launch in late 2024, but the company decided to postpone it to ensure a more polished and refined experience for players.

This delay is seen as a strategic move by KRAFTON to perfect their ambitious entry into a genre long dominated by EA’s The Sims.

Why Was inZOI Delayed?

Kim Hyung-jun, the director and producer of inZOI, explained the reasons behind the delay. He shared that the team needs additional development time to address feedback from the community and data collected from playtests. The goal is to create a stronger foundation for the game before its official launch. According to Kim,

“This change in our release date reflects our commitment to building a stronger foundation for inZOI, so we can embark on this journey in the best way possible.”

In a heartfelt message posted on the game’s Discord server, Kim compared the development process to raising a child. He said,

“Among primates, raising a human child to adulthood takes the longest time because humans must adapt to their ever-changing surroundings. The extra love and care required to nurture a child to adulthood is how I see our journey with inZOI.”

Importance of inZOI in the Life Simulation Genre

The delay of inZOI comes at a time when fans of life simulation games are eagerly looking for new alternatives. With Paradox Interactive recently canceling its project Life by You and continue delaying Prison Architect 2, inZOI has become a beacon of hope for players seeking something fresh in the genre.

Additionally, EA has confirmed that there are no plans for The Sims 5 anytime soon, although they continue to support the current Sims series with expansions. This positions inZOI as a potential game-changer in the life simulation space, filling a gap left by other major developers.

What Makes inZOI Unique?

inZOI is described as a life simulation game where players can take on the “role of gods” within the game world, allowing them to “change everything” as they wish and create endless new stories. This concept has already attracted attention from fans of The Sims, with many expressing interest in switching to inZOI once it’s fully released.

The game aims to provide a rich sandbox environment where players can explore various aspects of life, including different cultures and cities.

During an interview with PC Gamer, Kim discussed plans to expand the game with more cities and diverse content, allowing players to experience different cultures and even include other games within inZOI. He further stated that KRAFTON has lofty aspirations for inZOI, with the intention of sustaining the game for the upcoming two decades.

To support this vision, KRAFTON has recently partnered with Overwolf to launch an official modding program, encouraging the community to contribute to the game’s evolving world.

What’s Next for inZOI?

KRAFTON initially announced inZOI in November 2023 and released a limited-time Character Studio demo on Steam in August 2024. The demo received a positive response from fans, building excitement for the full release. A console version is also in the works, expanding the game’s reach beyond PC gamers.

For those eager to learn more about inZOI, KRAFTON has shared a detailed roadmap outlining future updates and features. As the release date draws closer, fans can expect more insights and teasers from the developers.
