Krafton Invests $11.3 Million in Eschatology Entertainment for a Souls-Like Shooter Game

Krafton, the creator of the globally popular PUBG franchise, has invested $11.3 million into Eschatology Entertainment to support the development of an upcoming Souls-like shooter game.

Eschatology Entertainment is currently a 65-person remote studio, with team members who have previously worked at renowned companies such as Valve, Wargaming, 4A Games, and Blue Studio.

Their debut project is described as a triple-A narrative first-person shooter set in an apocalyptic Wild West universe. While the game remains unnamed, it is reportedly in active development with a completed vertical slice, as per GameDeveloper.

The fresh investment is expected to ensure the game achieves a “timely release” while also helping the studio establish a dedicated publishing team.

A Collaborative Vision

Fuad Kuliev, co-founder of Eschatology Entertainment, emphasized that this partnership goes beyond financial support. He described it as a “collaborative journey” aimed at crafting a world filled with atmospheric depth, rich storytelling, and challenging gameplay.

Kuliev further highlighted that with the combined backing of Krafton, GEM Capital, and The Games Fund, the team now possesses the resources needed to turn their ambitious vision into reality.

Industry Expertise Behind Eschatology

Eschatology Entertainment was co-founded in 2022 by Dmytro Kostiukevych, Boris Nikolaev, Viktor Antonov, and Fuad Kuliev. All founders, except Antonov, previously worked at Wargaming, the studio behind World of Tanks. Antonov, on the other hand, served as the visual director for Half-Life 2 and Dishonored, as reported by VentureBeat.

Kuliev also mentioned that this funding isn’t just about completing one game but about setting the foundation for future projects and stories in this unique alternative apocalyptic Wild West setting.

Krafton’s Perspective

Maria Park, VP and Head of Corporate Development at Krafton, expressed excitement about the partnership. She stated that Eschatology Entertainment has an “exciting future ahead of them” and that Krafton is proud to support the studio in bringing innovative ideas to life, according to GamesIndustry.

This partnership not only showcases Krafton’s commitment to expanding its gaming portfolio but also highlights the growing potential of Eschatology Entertainment in delivering a standout gaming experience.
