Krafton Supports Indian Paralympians at Paris 2024

Krafton India, the company behind popular games like PUBG and BGMI, has teamed up with the Paralympic Committee of India for the upcoming Paris Paralympics 2024.

This move shows Krafton’s dedication to helping Indian talent grow, not just in esports but in traditional sports too.

Last year, Krafton promised to invest over $150 million in Indian talent. They’re not just focusing on game developers and esports athletes, but also on sports athletes.

For game developers, they started a program called the Krafton India Gaming Incubator (KIGI). This program offers money ($50,000 to $150,000) and technical help to support new games. The first cohort has already been announced.

Krafton has been busy in India. They recently launched the BGMI Awards to celebrate the best esports players in the country.

BGMI, their most popular game in India, has been downloaded over 100 million times. Even though it’s faced some bans because of its Chinese connections, the game keeps doing well in India. They also launched Bullet Echo India recently, a team-based shooting game for mobile phones.

Now, Krafton is trying to win more hearts by supporting a good cause. They’re helping the Indian Paralympic team by providing training kits, bags, and caps ensuring they’re well-equipped for the challenges ahead in Paris. The Indian Paralympic team has done really well in the past, especially in the Tokyo Olympics (2020), where they won 19 medals.

Sean Hyunil Sohn, the CEO of Krafton India, is excited about this partnership. He believes that sports can bring people together and inspire them. He said:

“We are thrilled to partner with the Paralympic Committee of India for the Paris Paralympics 2024. At Krafton India, we believe in the power of sports to inspire and unite communities, and we are dedicated to supporting the growth of traditional sports. Our para-athletes are a source of national pride, and we look forward to supporting them and witnessing their remarkable performance.”

Devendra, the President of the Paralympic Committee of India, is also happy about the partnership. He thinks Krafton’s support will really help the athletes as they get ready for Paris.

“The support from Krafton is a significant boost for our athletes as they gear up for the Paris Paralympics. We are grateful to Krafton for their commitment to Indian sports and for believing in the potential of our Paralympians.”

This isn’t the first time Krafton has supported Indian sports. They’ve worked with Neeraj Chopra, who won a gold medal in the Olympics. They also gave 25 lakh rupees to the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, which helps athletes get access to the best training facilities.

The Paris Olympics games has already started, and the Paralympics will follow from August 28 to September 8, 2024.

With Krafton’s support, the Indian Paralympic team is gearing up for what could be their best performance yet.
