Jarno Opmeer has won the 2025 F1 Sim Racing World Championship, adding another major achievement to his already impressive career. The Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing driver sealed the title after finishing seventh in the 12th and final round, held at the EFG Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.
The events took place from January 14 to March 27, featuring drivers from all 10 F1 teams competing on the virtual stage using the F1 24 game developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports (F1 25 releasing on May 30).
This victory marks Opmeer’s third championship win, having previously claimed the title in 2020 and 2021 with Alfa Romeo Esports and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Esports.
With this latest triumph, he now holds the record for the most championship wins in the competition’s history, surpassing two-time champion Brendon Leigh, who won in 2017 and 2018.
As per reports, Opmeer’s success continues Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing’s dominance in the scene. The team has now secured back-to-back driver’s titles, following Danish driver Frederik Rasmussen’s victory in the 2023-24 season on the F1 23 title.
The final race wasn’t an easy one for Opmeer. Starting from 14th on the grid, he had to fight his way through the competition to finish in a strong enough position to claim the championship.
It wasn’t just an individual triumph, though. Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing also took home the 2025 Teams Championship title, earning a cool $130,000 (~£100,673) in prize money. This marks the third time in the team’s eight-year history that they’ve secured the championship.
Oracle Red Bull Sim Racing has been no stranger to success outside of the F1 Sim Racing series. The team has also won the Porsche Esports Supercup in 2020 and 2024 on iRacing, with Sebastian Job emerging victorious on both occasions.
The F1 Sim Racing series is managed by ESL FACEIT Group, a well-known tournament organizer in esports. They have also hosted sim racing competitions on the RENNSPORT platform. However, for 2025, there seems to be a shift, with the ESL R1 tournament rebranding to RENNSPORT R1, possibly signaling a new direction for future sim racing events.
