NetEase’s Marvel Rivals secured the top spot in PC player engagement across major EUROPEAN markets and the UNITED STATES in January 2025. According to Newzoo’s latest market analysis, the hero shooter also advanced to second place in PC revenue rankings, up from sixth position, while breaking into PlayStation’s top five revenue charts.
The game’s continued success comes despite NetEase’s recent workforce reduction at its US support studio. The achievement highlights Marvel Rivals’ strong market performance since its December 2024 launch. According to official Netease financial reports, the game has gained over 40 million players WORLDWIDE, generating over $200 million for the company.
January witnessed significant movements across PC gaming platform. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2‘s PC port on Steam secured a Top 20 position within just two days of its January 30 release.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth made a notable leap in the revenue charts, climbing from 138th to 20th place following its January 23 PC launch. This success marks a significant shift for the game, which had previously fallen short of Square Enix’s expectations during its PS5-exclusive launch in February 2024. Furthermore, Circana analyst Mat Piscatella stated that the game was in the best-selling title for the week ending January 25th in the US market.
PlayStation’s chart is particularly noteworthy. Here, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League surged from 223rd to 16th place in engagement on PlayStation following Rocksteady’s announcement of ending game support after Episode 8’s January 14 release and its availability as a free PlayStation Plus title. Similarly, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered saw remarkable growth, jumping from 470th to 13th place due to its PS Plus entry.
Overall, Fortnite maintains its revenue leadership, followed by EA Sports FC 25 and Call of Duty franchise titles.
