Huuuge Games

Huuuge Games, a global game publisher, is laying off 122 employees, nearly 29% of its workforce, as it shifts focus toward social casino games. According to Pocketgamer.biz, the Poland office is the most impacted, with 89 employees—21% of its team—losing their jobs. Additionally, the company plans to close its studios in the Netherlands and Finland, known as ‘Huuuge Pods,’ and stop developing new games.

The layoffs are expected to be finalized by February 2025. Huuuge has assured that these changes will not hurt its revenue. The company also announced it will stop funding Bananaz Studios, resulting in a $3.5 million write-down.

Despite these challenges, Huuuge remains profitable with $125 million in cash reserves as of Q3 2024. However, net income for the quarter dropped by 18.2% year-over-year to $15.3 million. The company also hinted at exploring mergers and acquisitions to strengthen its portfolio.

CEO Wojciech Wronowski expressed gratitude to the affected employees and emphasized the importance of these measures in streamlining operations and driving innovation. He described this transition as a turning point for delivering better value to players and stakeholders.

The gaming industry continues to face widespread layoffs, with over 16,000 professionals losing jobs in 2024 and more cuts early in 2025. Companies like Rocksteady and Microsoft have already announced layoffs, reflecting ongoing challenges in the sector.
