Exciting news for Hogwarts Legacy fans! A Definitive Edition of the popular game is in the works, promising to bring even more magic to players’ screens.
According to a report from Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, players can expect between 10 to 15 hours of additional content. This will include a new story quest, various side quests, fresh in-game activities, and additional outfits.
The report suggests that this content will be available as separate downloadable content (DLC) and priced between $20 and $30. Though the exact pricing has yet to be confirmed, it is anticipated to fall within this range.
Henderson also suggests that the game might be released sometime in 2025, possibly as a strategy to boost revenue after the disappointing sales of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
This is not the first time rumors have circulated about an expanded version of Hogwarts Legacy. Earlier reports from Jason Schreier of Bloomberg hinted at the possibility of a “Director’s Cut” version of the game. If Schreier’s “Director’s Cut” and the Definitive Edition are indeed the same project, it’s possible that Rocksteady Studios could be involved in its development, as per the previous rumors.
Given the massive success of the original Hogwarts Legacy, it’s no surprise that Warner Bros. Games is looking to expand on it. By the end of 2023, the game had sold over 22 million copies, and its popularity has continued into 2024. In fact, it was one of the most downloaded PS5 games in Europe for September 2024.
Looking ahead, Warner Bros. Discovery also working on a sequel as CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels previously says that the successor of Hogwarts Legacy is one of the company’s “biggest priorities”, though it is likely still years away.
As Wiedenfels mentioned, fans may have to wait a bit longer for a full-fledged sequel to the game. In the meantime, this Definitive Edition may offer new content to tide players over.
