Will GTA 6 Come to PC? Decoding Take-Two CEO’s Cryptic Hints

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has been the talk of the gaming world since its announcement for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.

However, one question looms large: Will GTA 6 come to PC?

PC gamers, who’ve been left out of the initial release plans, are eagerly seeking answers.

Recently, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick’s comments at a TD Cowen conference have sparked hope.

What Did Take-Two’s CEO Say About GTA 6 on PC?

During the conference, as reported by VGC, Zelnick was asked whether Rockstar’s lack of a PC announcement for GTA 6 was set in stone.

His response was characteristically vague:

“Well, the lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone as near as I could tell, because the only thing that happens after the lack of an announcement is an announcement, I suppose, or a continuing lack of an announcement, I guess that could happen too. It doesn’t seem to me that either would be set in stone.”

While this corporate doublespeak might seem confusing, it essentially means that just because there’s no PC announcement now doesn’t mean there won’t be one in the future.

Is There Hope for GTA 6 on PC?

Zelnick’s next statement offers more concrete hope:

“But Rockstar has an approach to platforms which we’ve seen before, and they will make more announcements in due time. I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

This comment is particularly encouraging. Zelnick points to Rockstar’s historical approach, where they release games on additional platforms over time.

He also emphasizes the importance of being “where the consumer is,” suggesting that if there’s demand for PC (which there undoubtedly is), they’ll meet it.

Why Does Rockstar Often Release PC Versions Later?

Rockstar has a well-known pattern of releasing PC versions of its games after their console debuts.

This trend has been seen with titles like Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Some speculate this is to encourage double-dipping—fans buy the console version first, then the PC version later for improved graphics and modding capabilities.

Another factor is Rockstar’s complex relationship with the PC modding community.

While mods can enhance games, they can also introduce issues like online cheating.

This tension might contribute to Rockstar’s hesitation to launch PC versions simultaneously with consoles.

When Might GTA 6 Come to PC?

Given GTA 6’s fall 2025 console release window, PC gamers might have to wait until 2026 at the earliest.

This prediction is based on Rockstar’s past release patterns. For example, GTA V launched on PC a year and a half after its console debut.

However, some fans hoped GTA 6’s magnitude might change Rockstar’s approach.

As potentially one of the biggest game releases ever, it seemed plausible that Rockstar might want to tap into the PC market from day one.

Sadly, this doesn’t appear to be the case.
