GOG, the popular digital game distribution platform, has added 26 classic games to its Preservation Program as part of its ongoing Spring Sale. The newly preserved titles include Silent Hill 4: The Room, F.E.A.R. Platinum, and many other beloved franchises, all updated to work flawlessly on modern systems.
The GOG Preservation Program aims to keep gaming history alive by ensuring classic games remain playable on current and future PC setups. Each preserved game receives technical updates, includes all available content like manuals and DLCs, and comes with GOG’s offline installers and technical support.
Silent Hill 4: The Room, now available with a 35% discount, stands out among the new additions. According to GOG, this version includes previously missing content that was never before available on PC, along with confirmed stability improvements. Developed by Team Silent, the game follows Henry Townshend, a man trapped in his apartment, who discovers a mysterious portal leading to nightmarish alternate worlds tied to a serial killer’s legacy. The game alternates between first-person exploration of Henry’s eerie apartment and third-person action in unsettling environments, offering a unique blend of horror and tension.
Similarly, F.E.A.R. Platinum joins the lineup with an impressive 80% discount. GOG announced FEAR Platinum to Preservation Program earlier this month when Warner Bros unexpectedly shut down the game’s developer, Monolith Productions. Originally released in 2005, F.E.A.R. combines first-person shooter action with psychological horror. The Platinum edition includes the base game and its expansions, Extraction Point, and Perseus Mandate.
Here’s what’s also joining:
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption (-50%)
- Tomb Raider: Underworld (-89%), Anniversary (-89%) and Legend (-86%)
- Alone in the Dark: The Trilogy 1+2+3 (-75%)
- Ultima™ 1+2+3 (-75%)
- Ultima™ 4+5+6 (-75%)
- Ultima™ 8 Gold Edition (-75%)
- Wing Commander™ 1+2 (-60%)
- Deus Ex GOTY Edition (-86%)
- Jagged Alliance 2 (-60%)
- Fallout 2 (-75%)
- Privateer 2: The Darkening (-75%)
- Port Royale 3 Gold (-70%)
- Alien Breed + Tower Assault (-80%)
- Cannon Fodder (-75%) and Cannon Fodder 2 (-75%)
The preservation efforts ensure these games will continue to be playable despite advancing technology and changing operating systems.
GOG representatives emphasized that player passion keeps these games alive. They encourage gamers whose favorite titles aren’t yet available to visit the GOG Dreamlist, where they can vote for games they’d like to see preserved and share personal stories about why these titles matter.
