The Global Esports Federation (GEF) has announced the launch of the first-ever Global Esports Tour (GET) in India. This historic event will be hosted in Mumbai, a city renowned for its cultural diversity and vibrant energy.
The event became possible after GEF partnered with the Indian non-profit organization, Skillhub Online Games Federation (SOGF), in October 2024. This partnership isn’t just about India – it opens doors for esports development across South Asia, including countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
The Global Esports Tour is a professional tournament series where the world’s best esports athletes compete in different cities around the globe. Adding Mumbai to this prestigious circuit shows just how important India has become in the international gaming community.
Rustam Aghasiyev, Chief of Staff & Operations at GEF, expressed his enthusiasm: “The Global Esports Tour’s arrival in India is a defining moment for the Global Esports Federation. It reflects our dedication to expanding esports globally while building a truly inclusive and interconnected ecosystem.”
SOGF CEO Sibtain Baqri also highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Hosting the Global Esports Tour in India is a landmark achievement for our thriving esports community. This event not only provides a global platform for Indian athletes but also strengthens cross-cultural connections within esports. It’s a catalyst for growth that positions India as a global esports powerhouse.”
As of now, the organizer has not provided any details on the schedule or format.
