Garena has announced its first-ever national Free Fire esports tournament in Morocco.
Titled “Free Fire: The Battle of Morocco,” it will be a three-week festival that will bring together the best Free Fire players from across Morocco.
The tournament begins with online Open Qualifiers on August 5, 2024, and concludes with offline Grand Finals in Casablanca on August 24, 2024.
With a prize pool of MAD 100,000 ($10,000+) up for grabs, the stakes are higher than ever before.
How Does the Tournament Structure Work?
The tournament is divided into three main stages:
- Open Qualifiers (August 5-9, 2024): 1000 Teams will compete in a best-of-four Battle Royale format. The top 20 teams will advance to the next stage.
- Playoffs (August 16-17, 2024): The 20 qualifying teams will be joined by four elite Moroccan teams:
- Wask Team (Free Fire MEA League Season 7 champion and Free Fire World Series 2023 representative)
- Winners Esports
- Fight Night
- Top 12 (a prominent professional team with experience in major Free Fire MEA events)
These 24 teams will be split into two groups of twelve, competing online in four-round Battle Royale matches. Only the top 6 teams from each group will proceed to the Grand Finals.
- Grand Finals (August 24, 2024): This live event will take place in Casablanca, offering free admission to create an inclusive atmosphere for the gaming community.
Why is This Tournament Important for Morocco’s Esports Scene?
During the registration period from July 13-20, 2024, over 10,000 players signed up to participate. This incredible turnout shows the growing popularity of esports in Morocco and the hunger for competitive gaming opportunities.
As Eldwin Pradipta, Free Fire Game Producer for Garena Middle East and Africa, explains:
“We are thrilled by the immense enthusiasm surrounding the ‘Free Fire: Battle of Morocco’. The surge of interest highlights the fierce passion Moroccan youth have for esports, and Garena is dedicated to nurturing this talent and offering a stage for them to excel.”
The tournament’s success could lead to more such events in the future, further boosting the local gaming industry.
