G2 Esports Wins Last-Ever BLAST Premier: World Final 2024 with Dominant Sweep Over Team Spirit

G2 Esports has won the BLAST Premier: World Final 2024, sweeping Team Spirit 3-0 in a best-of-five showdown at the Resorts World Convention Centre in Sentosa, Singapore, on November 3.

With their victory, G2 secured the $500,000 grand prize from a $1 million prize pool, adding another major title to an impressive 2024 run. Earlier in the year, they claimed wins at the Intel Extreme Masters Dallas in June and the BLAST Premier: Fall Final in September, bringing their total championships for the year to three.

Team Spirit, finishing as runners-up, received $250,000, adding to their achievements after placing second in the BetBoom Dacha Belgrade tournament in May.

The tournament was particularly significant as it marked the final BLAST Premier event. With Counter-Strike 2 transitioning to an open circuit as required by Valve, BLAST has chosen to retire the Premier title.

Tournament Journey

The World Final began on October 30 with eight teams vying for the top prize.

The tournament used a group-stage format, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the playoffs. The playoffs featured best-of-three matches, except for the best-of-five grand final.

Both G2 and Spirit qualified from Group A, with G2 advancing directly to the semifinals after defeating Spirit in their first matchup, improving their head-to-head record against them this year to 4-1. Team Spirit, however, fought through the quarterfinals, where they defeated FaZe Clan to earn a spot in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, G2 outlasted Team Vitality, while Spirit triumphed over Astralis, setting up a rematch in the grand finals.

Map 2: Anubis (13-5)

On Anubis, G2’s defense proved nearly impenetrable, with NiKo leading the charge with 23 kills and a +10 K/D ratio. G2 dominated, finishing the map 13-5, bringing them to a 2-0 series lead and just one win away from the title.

Map 3: Dust 2 (Victory)

The series concluded on Dust 2, a favorite map for Team Spirit. Despite their familiarity, Spirit couldn’t overcome G2’s momentum. Hunter led G2 with a high frag count, supported by mONESY and malbsMd, who both contributed critical kills. G2 claimed Dust 2 and the championship with a decisive performance.
